Want to be ISO-ready? How we used FlexManager to achieve ISO recertification

Certifications for Environmental management, Quality management, and Occupational Health and Safety management for a compliance software.

Getting ISO certified is no small feat. As you may be aware from our recent post, we recently achieved re-certification with zero non-conformities across the following ISO standards:

We used our own FlexManager system to achieve these re-certifications (having used it to get certified originally) and wanted to share some insights for organisations that wish to achieve an accreditation of their own.

Why ISO Compliance Matters, Why It’s Getting More Complex?

Whether it’s proving your commitment to quality, securing sensitive data, protecting the environment, or keeping your people safe, ISO certifications are globally recognized markers of trust.

But here’s the challenge: ISO compliance isn’t getting easier.

    • Regulations and standards are evolving rapidly

    • Documentation needs are growing

    • Audit scrutiny is increasing

    • Remote work complicates access and version control

Without the right systems in place, staying compliant becomes a juggling act of spreadsheets, shared drives, and last-minute scrambling.

The Compliance Pain Without a System

We’ve worked with companies who were still managing compliance like it’s 2005. They were digging through folders to find procedures, manually updating Excel logs, and praying that someone remembered to prepare for the audit.

This manual approach creates real risks:

    • Disorganized documentation

    • Missed deadlines and training gaps

    • Untraceable revisions or approvals

    • Stressful audits where teams aren’t aligned

Let's hear from a Flex-pert

Find out what our Head of Business Development said when asked "What is the first thing that should be done when we want to start looking at getting ISO accredited?"
"For a lot of our clients, we have a call to set out what they are looking to achieve. They generally know what is expected from them, our role is to share how they can use FlexManager to reach the finish line."

"We assess what audits they do, and for example, if they are going for ISO 14001, we focus on audits like waste logs, and see whether it is to the standard that an ISO inspector would look for."

"We assist clients so when they get their ISO cert, they can go for the re-certification with minimal guidance needed."

Starting your ISO process with FlexManager: 6 Simple steps

Are you ready to achieve your ISO compliance? Here’s how most of our clients get started:

        1. Choose your standard(s): ISO 9001, 27001, etc.

        2. A crucial step is to start with purpose, with people who share a singular goal. Schedule a kick-off meeting that will allow for actions to be set through Task Manager, with a person responsible for each task being defined.
        3. Get your document management up to speed, the primary modules for this would be our Policies & Procedures, Document Control, and Document Library modules.
        4. Ensure that you conduct regular Audits, and most importantly that these ask the right questions
        5. Schedule regular meetings that can act as “pulse checks” to assess your progress, ensuring that follow-up tasks are being completed. A monthly alignment meeting should suffice.
        6. Consistency, consistency, consistency. These accreditations aren’t earned in a day. Building the foundation and getting your processes up to ISO standard (and more importantly, maintaining these standards) can take months.

ISO Compliance isn't a One-Time Project, It's for the Long Term!

Certifications like ISO 9001 or 27001 don’t just check a box. They build trust, mitigate risk, and drive real improvements. But they only work if the compliance is sustainable. We have built a system designed to make ISO work easier, cleaner, and more scalable for our clients.

If you’re ready to stop scrambling and start leading with confidence, we’d love to help. To find out more about how FlexManager can be used to achieve your compliance goals, reach out to our team through our Contact section on FlexManager.com.
