A fire at an industrial premises on the outskirts of Limerick city has been brought under control.
The fire broke out at the ClearCircle Metals plant, formerly Hegarty Metals, which is located on the Ballysimon Road on the eastern side of the city.
It is understood the fire started inside a large quantity of scrap metal which is located at the premises.
It has caused a large black plume of smoke to spread across the Ballysimon Road, which is a heavily industrial area of the city.
It is also one of the main roads into the city from the Tipperary and Waterford areas.
Fire crews from Limerick city and county, along with crews from Clare, brought the blaze under control.
