NISO 2026: 3 Health and Safety Trends We Expect to Hear About

The National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) are hosting their Annual Conference 2026 very soon. FlexManager will be exhibiting at this prestigious event on October 9th, and we’re looking forward to welcoming so many people to our stand to discuss the future of health & safety compliance, and so much more. We’re also looking forward to hearing all about the trends that are set to continue shaping the health & safety landscape. So, without further ado, let’s dive in and explore some of the key trends we expect could dominate the NISO Annual Conference.
The digitisation of safety management
The theme of this year’s NISO conference is ‘Health and Safety in the Digital Age 2.0’, so there is sure to be a lot of chatter around this. There will be many distinguished speakers at the 62nd edition of this event, and so many of them have been shaping this space for years and years. With that comes compound insights that are already influencing the development of safety management’s digitisation.
From across the International Labour Organisation, the Health and Safety Authority, EHS International, and more, a digital lilt is certainly present to promote and advocate for health & safety, social justice, and environmental compliance, and we’re looking forward to diving into their continued strategies in this regard.
At FlexManager, we too have been at the forefront of digitisation of health & safety compliance for the past 15 years. Our smarter compliance solutions are all in one unified platform, making it easier for our clients to keep on top of their health & safety requirements, and more. We’ve always aimed to keep building a software that the industry would follow, and our digitised approach has always been at the heart of that, so we’re very tuned into the digitisation of safety management. Undoubtedly, we’re keen to discover more about how this trend will continue – and continuing to influence its improvement and growth.
AI: the new era of safety compliance
If digitisation of compliance is its own area, where paperwork is banished for digital files; APIs open up a world of connectivity for smarter compliance; and mobile-to-desktop integration allows for greater flexibility, then AI is certainly its own standalone trend. Now part of our day-to-day lives, it has infiltrated the way we work in ways that it may have been hard to see coming.
At the NISO Annual Conference 2026, we’re expecting to hear more in-depth discussions about the role it’s playing, and will continue to play, in shaping the future of health & safety and broader compliance. FlexManager is pioneering our own AI solutions, too. Recently, we launched our very own Solution Explorer, an AI-powered way for anyone to discover which of our solutions could best solve their compliance problems. It allows people to submit their question or example challenge before receiving suggestions – modules that can fit how people work.
For example, if you say “I’m looking for a solution that will simplify my vehicle management process”, the Solution Explorer will likely feed you back links to our Asset Management module and several other related solutions. The algorithm behind it essentially allows people to build the exact platform they need.
Mental well-being as a safety priority
With some of the focus of the National Irish Safety Organisation’s (NISO) latest Annual Conference on occupational health & safety, a healthier workforce, motivational speeches, and more, it seems evident to us that mental well-being will be one of the key topics up for discussion this year.
We should see a lot of mental well-being discourse at the Annual Conference 2026, and it’s easy to see why. It’s clear that mental health is an important topic in any year, in any industry, and it obviously can play a crucial role in shaping the overall health of a workforce.
At FlexManager, we understand this; it’s one of the reasons why our smarter compliance platform has been designed to reduce the administrative burden on health & safety compliance teams – and reduce the general compliance workload on everyday teams. In this article, we explored how making space for a genuine check-in during a toolbox talk, pivoting a safety observation to discuss mental health, or using an employee bulletin to ensure workers know where to turn for support, cost very little but can make a real difference to someone who’s struggling in silence.
FlexManager provides each of these modules you can tailor to triage these challenges, and this perspective will certainly be right at home at NISO’s Annual Conference 2026, where we expect mental well-being and health & safety to firmly take centre stage.
