FlexManager’s Takeaways from the Emergency Services & Military Expo

On Thursday, FlexManager attended the Emergency Services & Military Expo, and it was a fantastic way to spend a morning and an afternoon in Athlone, right in the centre of Ireland. So, without further ado, let’s run through some of the main lessons from Ireland’s frontline expo.
Huge Appetite for Processes That Help Compliance
It was immediately clear from the moment we arrived at the Emergency Services & Military Expo that there was an immense appetite for those we spoke with to have processes and workflows that would help businesses achieve compliance. It’s little wonder, too, as we were in attendance alongside a host of people who’ve built their careers out of doing things the right way, the careful way, and in a way that makes sense from a safety perspective.
The very first panel discussion of the morning, for example, centred on the topic of ‘joining service’, bringing together some key figures from across An Garda Siochana, the Civil Defence, the Irish Coast Guard, and the Defence Forces. Each of the speakers have built a career out of helping ensure others’ safety, so it was refreshing to hear them speak about what others would experience by following in their footsteps and by entering such worthwhile pursuits.
Dozens of interested people stopped by our stall to find out more about FlexManager, and there was a great energy in the air throughout the day. Most of our discussions centred around areas such as toolbox talks, incident reporting, asset management, emergency evacuations, and more. A recurring question we heard was how to reduce the administrative burden that comes with compliance record-keeping. Many attendees described relying on paper forms and spreadsheets to track training, incidents and equipment checks, only to find pulling it together for an inspection could take days rather than minutes. We discussed how FlexManager could streamline processes and create audit-ready compliance in doing so, and our solutions resonated with a lot of people.
Fire Safety Services an Integral Part of Emergency Services
We met many groups and companies from the Fire & Rescue sector throughout the day. We’re already working with fire stations across the country, from east to west, so we’re very aware of what they want, and more importantly what they need to make things run as smooth as possible.
How to banish paperwork and welcome in a digitised approach, why our software can help trade silos for solutions, and where this reimagined way of working could lead them to were just some of the topics we covered. Fire & Rescue services need processes to flow without friction, and FlexManager can help with that.
Everyone from station officers and compliance officers to watch managers and fleet & equipment owners can find something to benefit from owing to our suite of fire-and-rescue-designated solutions.
The Desire for Growth was Palpable
FlexManager were represented by Anthony Fitzsimons, Jose Luis de Paula, and Trevor Murray, and we were all delighted to engage with this terrifically well-run event. Ultimately, we left Athlone with a renewed sense of enthusiasm, connections we’re looking forward to nurturing, and a deeper knowledge that FlexManager can help more and more companies solve their compliance challenges and issues.
We took home a whole host of takeaways from our time listening to and speaking with so many companies that operate across so many industries. Everyone of them had their own distinctive challenges and perspectives to share, but they all had one thing in common: A desire to do justice to the services they operate in, and we’re looking forward to helping them continue to do this.
