UK Law Change Highlights Importance of Safety Training
A UK health & safety expert has warned that a new employment law update could impact companies taking a complacent approach to safety training. With the change set to take effect in 2027, many companies are being urged to act now to avoid facing complications down the line.
The Employment Rights Act 2025 will see an update which means that unfair dismissal claims can be brought against a company after just six months, down from two years. When companies who haven’t ensured a safe workplace environment by providing adequate safety training end up facing a tribunal claim against them, employees could have a legitimate reason to bolster their existing case.
Health & safety professional Andrew Wilkinson made the insightful points recently, and the comments act as a salient warning for companies who have maybe taken a more lenient view to carrying out necessary safety training. It acts as an important reminder to companies that health & safety training is a crucial part of day-to-day operations. Not only this, but it highlights how important it is to carry out this crucial training regardless of law changes.
