Minnesota Company Receives Almost $19k Fine for Air Permit and Waste Management Violations

Industrial facility exterior representing a Minnesota manufacturer fined for air permit and waste management violations.

A company in Minnesota has received an almost $19,000 fine for violations regarding air permit and waste management. Schwing Bioset received the $18,939 fine from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) following observations about its North Branch operations that were made in 2024.

The MPCA said that it was their belief that the company needed a permit relating to the small amount of particulate matter the facility could potentially release. Additionally, the MPCA discovered that Schwing Bioset had not correctly followed certain hazardous waste management compliance best practices.

Since then, the company has received the air permit the MPCA said they were missing, thus achieving compliance in this area. Moreover, the company has also started a new regime of effectively managing hazardous waste.
